Great Cycle of the World
Serious bloggers need some serious design. If you’re the somber type of blogger, then the theme called the Great Cycle of the World may be just for you. With blacks, whites and several shades of gray, nothing says dark more than this theme. The Great Cycle of the World is a two-column blog which should satisfy most bloggers. There are no nasty three columns to put calendars and tag clouds in, but it’s all good if the most you want to do is share your thoughts over the internet. Now serious Wordpress themes like this deserve a serious review, so here are the good things and the not necessarily bad things about the Great Cycle of the World.
Pros
As mentioned earlier, this is a basic theme for the most basic users. It’s stripped down but it’s a good thing if you don’t want to distract your audience too much with a lot of flashy graphics and strong colors. There’s already an Adsense block on the header of the blog so if you want to use it, just change the publisher id by editing the theme in your Wordpress dashboard. Otherwise, you can simply remove the code altogether for a cleaner and less-cluttered look (not that it’s cluttered as it is). The fonts are large on this theme so it’s a blessing for those who have problems reading small texts. There’s no more need for them to use reading glasses.
Cons
If there’s a problem with the theme, well, it would be lack of its flexibility. While it can satisfy most users, it’s a one-trick pony for others who want to maximize their blog’s real estate. Then there’s the choice to use numbered lists on the sidebar. While it isn’t an issue on the blog’s functionality, it can be with regards to the design.
Maybe a bulleted list would look better with the theme. A live demo of the theme can be found here and you can download the theme here.
